Dunedin Rock 'n' Roll Dance Lessons

At the Dunedin Rock ’n’ Roll Revival Club, there’s a class for everyone – whether you’re taking your first steps or already spinning with style! Our Beginner Lessons are perfect for newcomers wanting to learn the basics in a fun, friendly setting. Once you’ve got the hang of it, our Intermediate Classes will help you build confidence, polish your moves, and add flair to your dancing. Whatever your age or experience, our club is all about fun, friendship, and keeping the dance floor alive!

You do not need to have a partner to learn to dance - we will try to have someone for you to dance with at lessons.

You can dance with your life partner, your parent, your child, your bestie or anyone else.

Couples do not need to be traditional male/female.

You are welcome to come along and have a look at lessons or a monthly dance to see if rock’n’roll dancing and music is for you.

Beginner

New to rock ’n’ roll dancing? Our beginner lessons are the perfect place to start! You don’t need any experience or a partner – just bring comfortable shoes, a smile, and a bit of enthusiasm. Our friendly instructors will guide you through the basic steps, turns, and rhythms at an easy pace, making sure you feel confident on the dance floor. It’s a fun, social, and energetic way to learn something new, make friends, and move to the music that defined an era. Everyone’s welcome – come along and give it a go!

Intermediate

Ready to take your dancing up a notch? Our intermediate lessons are designed for dancers who’ve mastered the basics and are keen to add flair, confidence, and variety to their moves. You’ll learn new step patterns, smoother transitions, and techniques for dancing with style and musicality. These sessions also focus on partner connection and timing – helping you feel the rhythm and really shine on the floor. Whether you’re preparing for social dances or just want to keep improving, our supportive instructors and upbeat atmosphere will keep you inspired and moving!

Our junior rock ’n’ roll lessons are all about fun, movement, and confidence! Designed for kids and teens, these sessions teach the basics of rock ’n’ roll dancing in a supportive, high-energy environment. Young dancers learn rhythm, teamwork, and coordination through simple steps, games, and routines to classic rock ’n’ roll hits. It’s a great way to stay active, make friends, and discover the joy of dance. No experience needed – just a big smile and a love of music!
